Together, we bring over two centuries of editorial expertise. Founded between the early 1990s and 2010s, we span academic, children’s, feminist, and trade publishing. Our legacies are marked by bold lists, path-breaking translations, and cultural impact that has shaped India’s independent publishing landscape.
We have published more than 3,000 authors, from Shashi Deshpande, and Romila Thapar to Mahasweta Devi, Bama, and Namdeo Dhasal. Our lists cut across fiction, poetry, academic writing, feminist theory, and children’s literature, creating one of the richest reservoirs of contemporary Indian writing in print.
We have partnered with more than 80 international presses across the US, UK, Europe, Australia, and Asia, including University of Virgina Press, Rutgers University Press and Columbia University Press. Through co- publishing and rights sales, we have carried Indian voices abroad while bringing writers such as Mariama Bâ, Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o, and Naguib Mahfouz into the Indian lists.
We have published over 150 award-winning books—recipients of the Nobel Prize, Bharatiya Jnanpith, Right, Livelihood or Alternative Nobel Prize, Save the World Award, John Lennon-Yoko Ono Grant for Peace, DSC Prize for South Asian Literature, Hindu Literary Prize, Tata Lit Live honours, Publishing Next accolades, and multiple international translation and children’s literature prizes— cementing our reputation for
excellence and innovation.
